The story of the helicopter deer recovery era in Fiordland is told through the lives of three brothers, Gary, Mark and Kim Hollows. A story of adventure, luck, and colourful characters, it is also a touching and poignant account of the true cost of this era, all set within the magnificent Fiordland National Park.

Peta Carey has had a long association with Fiordland, and has known Kim and Mark Hollows for many years. She has made documentaries and written extensively on various projects in the greater Fiordland area, including 'Place for the Heart' and 'Tamatea Dusky' (both published by Potton & Burton). 'The Hollows Boys' is her fourth book. She lives outside Queenstown, New Zealand, from where she continues to enjoy time in the mountains of Fiordland and Mount Aspiring National Parks
